William "Danny" Godsil

William “Danny” Godsil, 77, of New Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 10:42AM at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Danny was born on November 16, 1945 in Galesburg. He was the son of William A. and Eleanor F. (Walker) Godsil. He married Harriet Jane Lutrell on June 6, 1997 in Tampa, Florida. Together they celebrated 26 years of marriage. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Jane at home; son D.J. (Rebecca) Godsil of Rio; step-children, Jamie (Ron) Blessinger of Kodak, TN and Mike Scull of New Windsor; grandsons, Tylor, Ryan and Justin Godsil, all of Rio; step-granddaughter, Reagan Blessinger; four brothers, Patrick (Donna) Godsil, Jess (Janet) Godsil, Kevin (Connie) Godsil, all of Galesburg and Paul Godsil of St. Lucie, Fl.; and sisters, Beatrice (Gary) Lundeen and Julia (Tex) Jackson, both of Galesburg, Colette (Mel) Slane of Peoria, Christine (Ricky) Cooper of Glencoe, IL, Cecelia (Danny) Shea of Gilson and Loretta (Jerry) Bent of Oneida. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alice Timmerman, and brothers, George, Michael, Stephen, Matthew and Gordon.

Danny grew up in Wyoming, Illinois. He was a 1963 graduate of Corpus Christi Catholic School. He was a surgical technician for the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Danny worked and retired from Gates after over thirty years of service. He loved to fish, work on automobiles and small engines and go for rides in the country to scout deer. Danny was a fun loving, onery man with a dry, witty sense of humor.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held at a later date. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois have been entrusted with arrangements.
