Robert “Wade” Pitman, 53, of Wataga, Illinois passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 in Wataga, Illinois. Wade was born on December 4, 1962 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Robert and Shirley (Slyter) Pitman. He graduated from Galesburg High School with the class of 1981. He married Teena Thalmann on January 30, 1999 in Galesburg, Illinois. Wade was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He was the local neighborhood handyman and he will be remembered by his friends for his loyalty and dependability. Wade truly enjoyed performing live music. He was a wonderful musician and singer. Many know him for his years playing with local bands “The Bandits” and “Vintage Reissue”. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing with his helicopters, and loving on his dogs. He is survived by his loving wife; Teena Pitman of Wataga, daughter; Kristen Pitman of Wataga, brother; Kevin (and Robin) Pitman of Kearny, Missouri, aunt; Betty (and Gary) Courter of Abingdon, Illinois, aunt; Sarah Slyter of Abingdon, Illinois, brother-in-law; Shawn Thalmann of Altona, Illinois, 3 nieces; Nikki, Amber, Stacy, and his pets Marco and Tramp. He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Shirley Pitman, and his uncle; Harold Slyter. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. The funeral service will begin immediately following the conclusion of the visitation at 7:00 P.M. Rev. Jim Epperson will be officiating the service.
