Vera R. Becker

Vera R. Becker, age 92, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 8:16 A.M. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Knox county Nursing Home in Knoxville. She was born on October 30, 1925 in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Haynes) Baxter. She attended and graduated from the Knoxville High School in Knoxville. She married Harold “Bud” Becker on August 24, 1943 in Mountain Home, Idaho. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2005. Surviving is a daughter, Marie Suzanne (Jerry) Heidenblut of Cocoa Beach, Florida; a son, David Clarence (Karen) Becker of Knoxville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Marc Heidenbult, Beth Heidenblut, Jennifer (David) John, Mindi (Damian) Lile and Hilary Becker; and four great grandchildren: Gage John, Sierra John, Tyson Lile and Ryann Lile. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters; and two brothers. She was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She worked as a clerk for Dr. H.L. Fleisher in Knoxville and the Medical Arts Clinic in Galesburg, Illinois. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts when she was younger. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville. Rev. Bruce Ghitalla will officiate. Interment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
