Ruth Ann Flinn

Ruth Ann Flinn, age 92, of Maquon died at 11:50 A.M. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, Illinois. She was born on March 18, 1925 in rural Maquon, Illinois the daughter of Walter B. and Ruth (Harbison) Platt. She graduated from Maquon High School and then attended MacMurray College. She married Harold Flinn on May 16, 1944 in Park Ridge, Illinois. She was a kindergarten teacher, worked at Gilson Grade School and was the Librarian at Knoxville Junior High School for several years. Surviving is her husband, three sons: Douglas (Tamara) Flinn of Centerburg, Ohio, Harold Edward (Claire) Flinn of Bettendorf, Iowa, Steven (Susan) Flinn of Elmwood, Illinois; two daughters: Patricia (Charles) Brown of Galesburg, Illinois, Mary (Arno) Peterson of Naperville, Illinois; one foster son: David Hendrickson of St Louis, Missouri; one sister: Elizabeth (Frank) Wandell of Elgin, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Paul and Walter; and one sister: Frances. She attended the Grace Anglican Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Ruth Ann volunteered as a Knox County Master Gardener, and also was active with Good Cheer Club, and Lincolnland Coachmen Camping Club. She enjoyed entertaining family, knitting, camping, cooking, bicycling and traveling. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Grace Anglican Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Grace Anglican Church, Father Andy Ainley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maquon Historical Association – Fruit Hill School or Grace Anglican Church Organ Fund.
