Robert Carter Courtright, age 86, of Oneida, Illinois died at 2:48 P.M. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at his home in Oneida, Illinois. Robert was born on March 3, 1932 in Galesburg, Illinois to Taylor and Pearl (Volk) Courtright. He married Patricia J. Johnson on October 20, 1951 in Henderson Grove. She survives of Oneida, Illinois. Also surviving are two sons: Bruce T. Courtright (Sharon) of Oneida, Illinois, and Daniel B. Courtright (Shyrl) of Boise, Idaho; two daughters: Joan Courtright Swanson (David) of Oneida, Illinois and Karen Courtright Curry (Charles) Wyoming, Illinois; Grandchildren: Christopher Courtright (Amy), Andrew Courtright (Rebecca), David Courtright (Nikki), Michael Courtright, Matthew Courtright, T. J. Swanson (Leah), Brenda Curry Macke (J.P.) and Lisa Curry Cooley (Tyler); Great grandchildren: Addison, Sophia, Cody, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Ivy, Isaac, Elliot, and Owen. He was preceded in death by Grace Lilly Myers (sister). He was a 1949 graduate of R.O.V.A. High School. He farmed in the Oneida area for 51 years. He was also a hail adjuster for Country Companies Insurance for 40 years. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altona, Illinois where he served as choir member, church council member, head usher and in the men’s prayer breakfast. He was Alderman for the City of Oneida and Persifer Township Trustee, a member of Oneida Lion’s Club, and life member of the Oneida Lodge #337 A.F. & A.M. since 1955. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois, the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in the Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Illinois.
