Richard R. Young

Richard Ray “Rick” Young, age 71 of Maquon, Illinois died on October 8, 2022 in Maquon, Illinois.

He was born on December 30, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Russel R. and Burgetta M. (Peterson) Young. He attended and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1970. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois where he received his Law Enforcement degree. He married Dixie Goodrich, then Cheryl Ann Duley.

Surviving are his sons: Richard Young of Corbin, Kentucky, Steven Young of Griffith, Indiana, and David Young; two grandsons, three granddaughters, and one great granddaughter; his best friends Todd and Natalie Mason of Maquon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a Police Officer for the Village of Maquon for 30 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting guns, tinkering and spending time in the outdoors. He had many friends in and around the Maquon area.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Maquon United Methodist Church in Maquon, Illinois. Inurnment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery with his parents with Military Rites.
