Patricia A. “Pat” Stone, 88, of Galesburg, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. Patricia Alyce Bacon was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Galesburg, the daughter of Harry and Florence Parish Bacon. She was raised in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1946. She married James E. “Jim” Stone on Nov. 22, 1952, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2013. She is the mother of Sharon (and Bing) Soloman of Arizona, Steve (and Nancy) Stone of Wataga, Tom Stone of Galesburg, and William “Bill” (and Lorraine) Stone of Galesburg; nine grandchildren, Scott (and Alice) Meldrum, Kevin (and Christy) Stone, Kelly Stone, Ryan (and Teri) Stone, Aaron Stone, Michael (and Heather) Stone, Denise (and Mike) Kruzan, Craig (and Tiera) Stone, and Krystie Stone; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert “Bob” (and Bev) Bacon of Fort Collins, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Sheryl Bacon of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Byron Bacon and George Bacon. She was a farm wife and worked at Gale Products for approximately 29 years. She also worked at various other jobs including Fannie Mae Candies. Pat enjoyed cooking, sewing, and playing cards or Dominoes with family and friends especially Howard and Mary and Bill and Norma. She loved having her grandchildren come to visit and especially enjoyed taking walks and playing a rousing game of Uno with her “little Dolly”. She was a member of East Main Congregational Church of Christ. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Knox County Nursing Home and Hospice Compassus for all the love, care and support they have shown during this difficult process. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Rev. Dan Lybarger will officiate. A potluck luncheon will be held following the service at the home of Bill and Lorraine Stone, 1956 Knox Highway 1, Galesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of the Knox County Nursing Home. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements.
