Orlow Dean Hazen

Orlow Dean Hazen, age 93, of Oneida, Illinois passed away on October 5, 2016 at the Rosewood Care Center of East Peoria, Illinois. He was born May 15, 1923, in Williamsfield, Illinois. He was married to Iola (Carr) Hazen for 59 years before her death. Dean attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1941. He then married Shirley Houghton (Coon) Hazen for 15 years; she survives of Oneida, Illinois. He is the father of the late Donna (Merlyn) Parkinson; Gary (Judy) Hazen of Altona; and Karen (Don) Maze of Galesburg; and stepfather of Vicki (Dave) Parkinson of Peoria and Bruce Coon of LaFayette. He has six grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Hazen, Rod (Kristi) Parkinson, Brian Parkinson, Brad (Sandee) Maze, Brett (Angie) Maze and Doug Maze; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Weber and Marcy George; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Laverne; and two sisters Verda Conley and Doris Hazen. Dean was employed with Moorman Feed Company. He was a member of the Former Oneida Masonic Lodge and the Rylander-Milroy American Legion Post #727. Dean also served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1944-1945. The family would like to give a special thank you to OSF Hospice- Rita and Tina, and the Rosewood Care Center of East Peoria. A Visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Oneida, Illinois. A graveside service will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Illinois. Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Rylander-Milroy American Legion Post Honor Guard of Oneida, Illinois. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or the Rylander-Milroy American Legion Post #727.
