Nancy Jane Varner, 82, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 2:23 PM, at Courtyard Estates, Knoxville. Nancy was born on March 24, 1939 in Moline, IL. She was the daughter of Harold Alan and Lucille Eliza (Lees) Miller. Nancy married Gerald “Jake” Varner on May 16, 1958 in Rock Island. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage, before his passing on April 29, 2010. Nancy is survived by her children, Lorri Walker (Terry Evans) of Knoxville and Andy (Elizabeth) Varner of Galesburg; son-in-law, Jim Morgan of Galesburg; grandchildren, Christopher (Elizabeth) Walker of Knoxville, Becky (Caleb) Bennett of Abingdon, Kathleen Varner of Pensacola, FL, Michael (Emily) Varner of Cedar Rapids, IA, Bridget Morgan of Galesburg and Ashley (Brett Paul) Morgan of Mt. Zion; great-grandchildren Bryar and Emersyn, Hank and Jake, Madilynn, and Mylah and Jaxton; and many loving relatives that were dear to her heart. She is preceded by her parents; husband; daughter, Patty Varner-Morgan; and sisters Barbara Rosser and Patricia Blaser. Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Moline High School. She was a Mom, Gran, and a Child of Christ. Nancy was a life time member of the Coal Valley First Presbyterian Church; she was also a member of the former Gilson Church and a current member of Community Bible Church of Knoxville. She was also member of the Ladies Aide of Gilson and a 62-year member of the Friendship Card Club. Nancy was an exuberant mother and grandmother. Her family was her everything. Nancy was a kind, caring soul, who was loved by many and revered for her sage advice. She will be missed greatly. As Nancy always said “God is good, all the time. All the time God is good” Visitation will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Community Bible Church, 1369 Knox Hwy 8, Knoxville, IL 61448. Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow services at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Jordan Knight and Jim Lenz will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. A fellowship luncheon will follow the services at the Cemetery. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville have been entrusted with arrangements. Due to the new COVID-19 Mask Mandate, the funeral home will maintain compliance and ask that guests wear a mask.
