Nancy Self, 83, of Williamsfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, 4:20 AM, at Marigold Rehab and Healthcare Center, Galesburg. Nancy was born on November 25, 1936, in Streator. She was the daughter of O.G. and Madolyn (Maahs) Stodgel. Nancy married James Self on June 23, 1956. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on July 17, 2015. Nancy is survived by her children, James (Elaine) Self of Springfield, Mitchel (Beth) Self of Virginia, Il, Kristine (John) Rask of Victoria, Timothy (Lori) Self of Victoria, Madolyn (Michael Ott of Williamsfield, Daniel (Tifanie) Self of Dahinda; daughter-in-law, Rita Self of Henry; thirteen grandchildren, Derick (Lacy) Dykeman, Dallas (Erin) Self, Tyler (Hope) Dykeman, Brittany Self, James Dykeman, Nicole (Ian) Waggoner, Chance Rask, Brayden Ott, Cooper Self, Griffin Self, Gionna Ott, Hope Self, Wyatt Self; four step grandchildren, Robert (Meta) Rask, Jake Rask, Shanda Carr and Manda Martin; four great-grandchildren, Oliver Dykeman, Olivia Self, Morton Dykeman, and Etta Waggoner; six step great-grandchildren, Lucas, Amelia and Emersyn Rask, Bode Carr, Griffin Martin and Myesha Spurgeon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Steven, and two brothers, Robert and James Stodgel. Nancy attended Williamsfield schools. She attended Illinois State University. Nancy was a teacher’s aide for Williamsfield School District for thirty-one years, retiring in 2011. She was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Nancy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and democrat. She loved to go antiquing. Most of all, Nancy loved to spend time with her family. Her world was centered around her children and grandchildren, and she wore her “Grandma” title proudly. Nancy was quick witted and had a sparkling personality. She was loved and will be missed by many. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at the Elmore Cemetery in Elmore, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted with Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, facemasks and social distancing will be required.
