Mildred West

Mildred West, age 91, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 9:39 P.M. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Aperion Care Galesburg North. She was born on Wednesday, April 4, 1928 in Knox County, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Pearl (Stegall) Skinner. She was reared and educated in the Knox County area. On Wednesday, December 12, 1945, Mildred was married to Cecil West in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on Friday, November 26, 1999. Mildred is survived by her two children: Virginia (and Gerald) Doubet of Williamsfield, Illinois, Roger (and Bev) West of Knoxville, Illinois; four grandchildren: Ginger (and Courtney) West of Williamsfield, Paula (and Bonnie) West of Henderson, Nevada, Cynthia West of Williamsfield, Marcus (and Becky) Doubet of Williamsfield; seven great-grandchildren: James Doubet, Tyler Doubet, Katie Doubet, Waylon Courson, Nicala Ray, Cash Courson, Denver Courson; three great-great-grandchildren: Riley Doubet, Casen Peterson, Lexi Doubet; and one niece, Julie Skinner of Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mildred farmed alongside her beloved husband, Cecil, for fifty-four years. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Knox County Nursing Home for thirty years. She was a dedicated and active member of the Dahinda United Methodist Church, as well as the AFSCME Local #31. She enjoyed many past times, including quilting, canning, and cheering for her beloved Cardinals. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Williamsfield Cemetery in Williamsfield, Illinois. Rev. David Mustain will officiate.
