Menona B. Moorehead

Menona B. Dredge Moorehead, age 90, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 9:40 A.M. at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg. Menona B. Dredge was born on June 5, 1927 in Galesburg, the daughter of the late Orvalle and Iva Dredge. She married the late Thomas E. Moorehead on June 15, 1947 in Knoxville at the First United Presbyterian Church. Menona is survived by her daughters: Judy Moorehead of Galesburg, Jolene Moorehead of Knoxville, and Joyce (Mike) Schwieter of Gilson, Illinois; and two grandchildren: Becca Schwieter of Arizona and Thomas Schwieter of Gilson. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1945. She worked at Butler Mfg. in Galesburg and Gilson and also worked as a Postal Clerk for twenty-seven years in Galesburg, retiring in 1991. Menona belonged to the Women of the Moose in Galesburg, the American Legion Auxiliary in Knoxville, and was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church; she was active in her church Circle. She was a member of the Gilson Church until its closure in 2010. She enjoyed listing to music, dancing, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandkids. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Rev. Robert Keller officiating. Interment will be at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville American Legion Auxiliary.
