Melba B. Dodd

Melba B. Dodd, age 91, Knoxville, Illinois formerly of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 8:11 A.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Melba was born on October 25, 1925 in Rushville, Alabama, the daughter of Ernest and Dealie Jones. She married Carl W. Dodd on April 21, 1947 in Franklin, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2000. She is survived by her children: Patti (Jerry Courtway) Peterson of Victoria, Illinois, Marsha Mattern of East Peoria, Illinois, Donna (Tom) Fulcher of Peoria, Illinois, and Carl (Sharon) Dodd of East Peoria, Illinois; six grandchildren: Kevin Peterson, II, Kent Peterson, Jennifer Hoffman, Ryan Mattern, John Dodd, Carl J. Dodd, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Melba was a stay at home mother and housewife. She enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria, Illinois, with Rev. Roger Carlson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Compassus or to the Friends of Knox County Nursing Home.
