Mary M. Rohweder

Mary Margaret Rohweder, age 86, of Victoria, Illinois passed away at 10:55 A.M. on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Mary Margaret was born on January 27, 1931 in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Arthur A. and Celina (Masschelein) DeCommer. She graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Rock Island, Illinois. She married Edward R. Rohweder of Geneseo, Illinois on October 21, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1997. Those left to cherish her memory include her children and their spouses: George E. Rohweder of Cookeville, Tennessee, Gregory A. Rohweder of Oneida, Illinois, Jeffrey L. (Paige) Rohweder of Oneida, Illinois, and Mary Ann (Rick) Pedigo of San Leandro, California; her grandchildren: Kyle, Andrew, Auty, Khristian, Paul, and Becka; and her sister: Anna Lawrence of Rock Island, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister: Elizabeth DeCommer. Mary Margret worked at the Galesburg Register Mail for twenty years and then at Oak Run for a number of years. But her passion was her family. She enjoyed talking about them and their accomplishments. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening (especially vegetables, Asiatic lilies, and roses), playing cards, bingo, and bowling. She loved being a mom and grandmother. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with Father Deus-Deita Baybatao officiating. Interment will be at the Victoria Cemetery in Victoria, Illiois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Knox County Nursing Home or Saint Aloysius Altar & Rosary Society.
