Mary E. Pruett

Mary Elizabeth Pruett, 95, of Maquon, Illinois passed away at 4:12 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. She was born on March 22, 1921 to Lois and Aden Van Fleet and called the Maquon area home for over eighty years before moving to the Kensington in Galesburg, Illinois. On July 7, 1956 Mary married Allen Pruett. She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, Joe (Carole) Morse and Robert Morse, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving, are two children, Lois Ann (Gary) Kempster of London Mills, Illinois, Robert (Vickie) Pruett of Maquon, Illinois, one brother, John (Marilyn) Van Fleet of Galesburg, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grand-children and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Mary enjoyed spending time with the multiple generations of her family, especially playing cards together. She was also an avid bowler and bingo player who loved to share laughs. For many years Mary worked for JCPenney and helped with the family trucking business. Family and friends are invited to pay last respects at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. on December 30, 2016. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the Maquon Cemetery in Maquon, Illinois and the Maquon United Methodist Church will host a lunch after internment.
