Maria Leanne Phillips

Maria Leanne Phillips, age 74 of Wataga, Illinois died at 12:45 A.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois surrounded by her family. She was born on May 19, 1947 in Canton, Illinois the daughter of John Leroy and Winnetta Lurabelle (Ford) Peters. She attended and graduated from Cuba High School. She was married 56 years to her husband, William David Phillips on March 13, 1966 at the Cuba Christian Church in Cuba, Illinois. Surviving is her husband Dave Phillips of Wataga, Illinois, four daughters: Lori (Tim) Madden of West Lafayette, Indiana, Angie (Rick) Krout of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Michelle (Jeremy) Hall of Chiloquin, Oregon, and Shannon (Seth) King of Knoxville, Illinois; ten grandchildren: Ryan Madden, Caitlin (Cole) Madden-Elam, Zachary Hall, Madeline Hall, Aidan Cox, Lauren King, Peyton Cox, Emily King, Olivia King and Henry King; her mother, Winnetta L. Peters of Lewistown, Illinois; one sister, Lynn (Jack) Danner of Lewistown, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father. Leanne was a member of the Knoxville Christian Church in Knoxville, Illinois. She was a gardener, a singer, and a passionate artist in many diverse mediums. She loved her family above all cherishing time spent with children, grandchildren and pets; her daughters would tell you she was “Queen Mother” of their family. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration will be held at a later date. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory have been entrusted with her wishes.
