Margaret B. Cecil

Margaret B. Cecil, 99, of Maquon, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 3:05 A.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Margaret was born on the family farm near Maquon to George and Clara (Darland) Martin on January 1, 1919. She married Kenneth Cecil on November 23, 1937. Together they farmed and raised their three children, Jim, Don and Roberta. He preceded her in death in January of 1988. She is survived by her 2 children, Don Cecil of Maquon, Roberta (Roger) Wilson of Knoxville, 1 sister Eva Davidson of Rock Island, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Cecil, son Jim (Donna) Cecil, parents, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters. Margaret was a lifelong member of the Maquon United Methodist Church, where she loved volunteering for various church needs and functions. Margaret was also a member of the Maquon Home Bureau and the Knox County Farm Bureau. She was an avid quilter. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Maquon United Methodist Church. The funeral service will directly follow at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at the Maquon Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be at the Maquon United Methodist Church after the graveside services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Maquon United Methodist Church or to the Courtyard Estates of Knoxville Activity Fund.
