Mamie M. West

Mamie M. West, age 85, of Galesburg, Illinois, died on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. Mamie was born on March 22, 1933 in Elmore, Illinois the daughter of Everett and Vida (Munts) Yelm. She graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1951. Surviving is one son: Steven (Debra) West of Galesburg, Illinois; two grandchildren: Jason (Carmen) West of Oquawka, Illinois and Jeremy (Kary) West of Oneida, Illinois; five great grandchildren; three brothers: Roland Dean Yelm of Princeton, Illinois, Everett Gene (Lorna) Yelm of Williamsfield, Illinois, and Earl “Dick” (Marlis) Yelm of Gilson, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Betty and Ada; and one brother, Merlin “Red”. Mamie was a nurses’ aide, working for the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois and Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family.
