Mabel "Katy" Emstrom

December 12, 1931 — April 15, 2020

Mabel K. “Katy” Emstrom, age 88, of Rural Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:05 A.M. at home peacefully, surrounded by her family. Katy was born on December 12, 1931 in Decatur, Michigan, the daughter of Howard and Clara (Buck) Page. She attended Galesburg High School, the Class of 1949. She married Dwight W. Emstrom on July 17, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2018. Katy is surviving by her children: Delaine (Kevin) Litchfield of Rio, Illinois, Deanne (Brian) Hamline of Rural Galesburg, Illinois, and Dean W. Emstrom of Rural Galesburg, Illinois; five grandchildren: Amy, Nikki, Drue, Kimberly and Kelsey, and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Barbara. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. She enjoyed knitting, and had a green thumb for plants. She was a home maker and farm wife. Cremation rites will be accorded. No visitation or funeral will be held at this time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice or Caring Senior Service. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements.
