Lois was born August 4, 1932 in Hancock County, the daughter of Henry and Villette (Schilson) Summers. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for Foote Mineral and Iowa Gateway, both in Keokuk, Iowa. She had a great love for her family and friends. Lois was a tremendous advocate for animals, and she loved visiting the beach. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Villette Summers; two sisters, Ruth Fisher and Euvon Ammon; and two brothers, Floyd Summers and Gene Summers. Cremation rites will be accorded with the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. There will not be any services; at a later date her ashes will be scattered over her beloved Atlantic Ocean. Because of her strong love for pets, the family request that memorial contributions be sent to the Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org) or a local no-kill animal shelter.
