Linda E. Stinson, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 A.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Linda was born on November 7, 1940 in Galesburg, the daughter of Everett Potter and Flora (Buck) Potter. She was reared and educated in Knoxville. While in high school, Linda was the Drum Major for the marching band. She graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1958. After high school, she attended the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating, she began her career as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Moffit for 2 years, then Dr. Erffmeyer for 8 years, and finally Dr. Currie for 25 years. She married Jim Stinson on December 8, 1963. Linda was a member of the First Church of God in Galesburg, where she often sang in the choir and served as the Sunday School Secretary. She enjoyed skiing on snow and water, gardening, bird watching, playing with the dogs, traveling, and attending her grandchildren’s functions. She is survived by her husband, Jim Stinson of Galesburg; two children, Pam (Mark) Brown of Dahinda, Chris (Kitlyn) Stinson of Oneida; and two grandchildren, Mia Stinson and Holly Brown. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Potter and Flora Potter; and two sisters, Dixie Potter and Meredith Potter. Visitation will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Church of God in Galesburg. Interment will be held at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in rural Galesburg. Pastor Dennis McQuown will be officiating the services. Memorial contributions may be left to either the First Church of God or Guardian Angels.
