February 8, 1945 — March 22, 2022

Linda Lee Doerr, 77, of Altona, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Linda was born on February 8, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Mae (Jennings) Harris. She married the love of her life, John Gaard in 1965. Together they built a life that would span 55 years and bring three daughters in the world. Linda is survived by her loving daughters, Mariann Furlan of Altona, Kathleen Carlino of Lockport and Linda Gaard of Altona; two brothers, Kenneth (Susan) Harris of Beaver Dam, WI and Keith (Nettie) Harris of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Alvin and Donald Harris, and a sister, Patricia Smith. Linda attended schools in Chicago. She taught cosmetology in the Chicago area for over 25 years. She enjoyed swimming and going to McDonalds. Linda loved visiting with people and never met a stranger. A ten-minute walk would take an hour, due to Linda stopping and visiting with people along the way. She was always smiling and found the good in everyone she met. Linda gave the world’s best hugs and will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois have been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be donated to the KCCDD organization.
