Kristin Marie Kline, 74, of Brimfield, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, Illinois. Kristin was born on May 26, 1942, in Galesburg, Illinois, the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Olga (McCombs) Eckman. Kristin attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1960. She then went on to Western Illinois University from 1960-1962, transferring to and later graduating from Bradley University in 1964. She married the love of her life JC (Jan) Kline on November 19, 1966 in Knoxville, Illinois. She was a teacher for Richwoods where she taught Home Economics from 1964-1965, then from 1965 - 1970 Kristin taught at Norwood Grade School. From 1970 - 1984 Kristin was dedicated homemaker, returning to teaching at Brimfield Grade School in 1984, retiring in 2000. After her retirement Kristin and JC enjoyed living as a part-time resident of Steamboat Springs, Colorado as well as at their home in Brimfield. Kristin was an active member of Sigma Kappa. She was a dedicated member and Sunday school teacher at the Union Church in Brimfield, IL. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, holiday decorating, gardening, reading and enjoying the splendors of nature. Kristin’s love for animals was truly endearing, especially for her Yorkie named Archie and her kitty named Isabell. She is survived by her children Kim (Roy Nelsen) Marie Kline of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Aaron Nathan Kline of Peoria, Illinois, sister-in-law Kaye Swanson, and several cousins. Her beloved parents and her beloved husband preceded her in death. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Lutheran Hillside Village and OSF Hospice Care for the care and compassion they provided for Kristin. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Gilson Cemetery in Gilson, Illinois. Rev. Jim Reynolds will be officiating. There will be a celebration of Kristin’s life at the Kickapoo Creek Winery at 6:00 P.M. following the service. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
