Kendell “Kenny” Lester, 85, of Avon, died on Friday, August 14, 2020, 10:30 PM, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Kendell was born April 23, 1935 in Macomb. He was the son of Francis and Verna (Howe) Lester. He married Josephine M. Ennis. Kendell is survived by his wife, Josephine; son, Mark Lester of Galesburg; stepchildren, Jerald (Debbie) Sherman of La Bella, FL, Ed Sherman of Helena, MT, Kathy Powell of Seattle, WA, and Rosemary Friend, Independence, MO; brother, Dannie Lester of Avon; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Duane Lester. Kendell was a veteran of the United States Airforce. He was a member of the American Legion Harry E. Wiles Post #381 of Abingdon. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Indy 500 racing. Kendell enjoyed making home made wine and researching his family lineage and geneology. He will be greatly missed by those who love him. Cremation rites have been accorded. A burial of cremated remains will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, 10:30 AM, at the Good Hope Cemetery, Good Hope. Pastor Lee Unger will officiate. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Harry E. Wiles Post #381. Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Humane Society.
