Kathryn C. Adams

Kathryn C. Adams, born Jan. 7, 1931, died March 23, 2020. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the Oneida Cemetery. A celebration of Kathryn's life with family and friends will be held this summer. After being raised on a farm in the heartland of western Illinois, Kathryn attended the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, graduating in home economics and chemistry. She worked as a home economist for the Culinary Arts Institute, the Wheat Flour Institute and Shurfine Central Corp. As a stay-at-home mom she continued her culinary passion, testing baking recipes for her family and the neighborhood kids. Kathryn will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of cooking/baking and her fierce love of family. Daughter of Glenn and Alta Clifford (nee McKie). Beloved sister of Joanne Sandry (Earl). Loving mother of Susan Holtrup (John), Margot Swienton (Michael) and Andrew (Kathleen McCullough). Loving grandmother of Kathryn Schlueter (Jason), Hannah Clark, Max Swienton, Kevin Holtrup (Melissa Smurlo) and Brandon Holtrup. Loving great-grandmother of Teagan and Eliana Holtrup. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L., on Sept. 15, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Unity Hospice in Rochelle and Greig Memorial Library in Oneida.
