Joyce A. Hagerty, age 72, of rural Oneida, Illinois died at 6:20 P.M. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on November 21, 1943 in her favorite city, San Francisco, California, the daughter of Fred and Florence C. Rodgers Schuchart. She was raised and educated in Spokane, Washington. She eloped with James L. Hagerty on December 26, 1963 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho before serving as a military spouse through 11 assignments in 4 countries. Surviving is her husband, James Hagerty of Rural Oneida, Illinois; a daughter, Hope L. (Ken) Lock of Fairview, Illinois; and a son, Joseph F. (Laura) Hagerty of Dixon, California; four grandchildren: Hannah R. Hagerty of Lake Worth, Florida, James D. Hagerty of Dixon, California, Johnathon T. Lock of Fairview, Illinois and Erynne K. Hagerty of Dixon, California; three brothers, Fred (Katie) Schuchart of Spokane, Washington, Richard (Carol) Schuchart of Spokane, Washington, and Larry Schuchart of Spokane, Washington. She attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota then, Anchorage Community College in Anchorage, Alaska where she graduated with her LPN. She was a caring LPN working in Alaska, California, then finally at Rosewood Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She most recently worked for clothing retailer Christopher & Banks. She was of the Lutheran Faith, a member of the Red Hat Society, and an officer for the Knox County Association of the Home, Community and Education where she organized and conducted Class Day at Carl Sandberg College. She was an avid reader and a dedicated genealogist. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family to assist them in travel expenses.
