Joy D. Eccher

Joy D. Eccher, 66, of Galesburg, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. 6:15 PM, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling. Joy was born July 17, 1955 in Greenbush Township. She was the daughter of Calvin and Sara (Gash) Eccher. Joy is survived by her significant other of over twenty years, Bill Breasaw of Galesburg, her best friend and caregiver, Donna Williams of Gilson, three sisters, a brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Paul. Joy worked as a pediatric respiratory therapist and then later she worked in banking until her retirement. She loved to read, spending time with her friends, especially when it came to entertaining and cooking a nice meal with them. She loved her cats, Pithy, Pinky and Nigel. Joy also enjoyed being outdoors, especially at the lake for a picnic lunch, and organizing. Joy was a dedicated mother, she was a strong soul who dealt with a lot, but always remained kind and gentle and had the sweetest smile. Cremation rites have been accorded. A burial of cremated remains will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth. Rev. Jim Jacobs will officiate. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory of Knoxville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be donated to the Knox County Historical Society.
