John S. Roy

John S. Roy, age 90, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:15 P.M. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Marigold Rehab & Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on April 30, 1927 in Jefferson County, Colorado, the son of Howard and Margaret Gibbons. He married Barbara Ann Carley on February 11, 1963 in Rock Island, Illinois. Surviving is his wife, Barbara Roy of Galesburg, Illinois; his children: Samantha (Bill) Treakle of Normal, Illinois, John (Kimberly) Roy of Knoxville, Illinois, and Carl (Shelly) Roy of Chicago, Illinois. Six grandchildren: Kevin Moss, John (Nicole) Roy II, Travis Roy, Tabitha Roy, Alex Roy and Sophia Roy; six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He worked as a Foreman for the former ADM in Galesburg, Illinois for 31 ½ years, retiring in 1985. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enjoyed the outdoors, mostly fishing. He was an avid Bronco’s fan. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
