John Phillip Burris

John Phillip Burris, 79, of Dahinda, Oak Run, Illinois died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. John was born on December 2, 1942 to John and Isadora Burris. They preceded him in death. He married Linda Willmirth on March 15, 1964. She survives. John worked at Caterpillar for 34 years before retiring as Systems Manager. He enjoyed painting, golf, bowling and fishing. He was a huge Illini basketball fan. He also loved to watch his children and then grandchildren participate in sports. He helped plant the Oaks Community Church where he was a member, past treasurer and served on the elder board. He also served two terms on the Oak Run board. Along with his wife, he is survived by a brother, Harry Burris; a daughter, Angelia (Bryan) Joos; a son, Phillip (Staci) Burris and grandchildren Brianna, Zachary, Samuel and Magdelyn Joos and Madison, Jackson and Ivy Burris. Memorial Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Oaks Community Church, Rev. Marty Briney officiating. Visitation will be held form 10:00 to 12:00 Noon prior to the Memorial services. Memorials to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Blvd., Staten Island, New York 10306.
