Joan Louise Jones

Joan Louise Jones, age 80, of Knoxville, Illinois, died at 1:50 P.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. On Saturday, March 25, 1939, Joan was born to Ralph Meridy and Lela V. (Norris) Gardner in Monmouth, Illinois. She was reared and educated in the Monmouth area, and was a proud member of the Monmouth High School class of 1957. Joan was married to George W. Jones, Jr. on Saturday, March 15, 1958 at the First Christian Church of Monmouth. George preceded her in death on Friday, April 12, 2013. Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children: Ann (and Dan) Bowman of rural Milan, Illinois, Tim (and Sandy) Jones of Knoxville, David (and Michelle) Jones of Knoxville; ten grandchildren: Kathleen, Keegan, Haley, Evan, Cody, Tessa, Hannah, Damian, Chrissy, Jacob; and two great-grandchildren: Iris Meridy North and Rosemary North. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Together with her husband, Joan owned and operated Timanda Landscaping and Garden Center in Knoxville since 1987. There were many hobbies that she enjoyed, but she was especially interested in genealogy, and could spend countless hours researching her family tree. She also loved attending all of her family’s sporting events and other activities. Most of all, Joan adored her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois, Rev. Diane Duncan and Rev. Don Williams officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Joan’s home in Knoxville.
