Jane M. LaFollette

Jane M. LaFollette, 94, formerly of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020, 6:35 AM, at Serenity of Lake Storey, Galesburg. Jane was born November 2, 1926 in Knoxville. She was the daughter of William and Anna (Montgomery) Peterson. Jane married Richard “Dick” LaFollette on January 20, 1950 in Keokuk, Iowa. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Dick preceded her in death on July 16, 2000. Jane is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” (Alyce) LaFollette of LaSalle; and brother, Billy Peterson of Andalusia. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth, Louise and Audrey; and four brothers, Frank, John Earl and Raymond. Jane attended Knoxville Schools. She was a graduate of the class 1944. She was a homemaker; but also worked as a ticket-taker for the former Earl Theatre. Jane was a member of the former Pilgrim Congregational Church of Knoxville, and then the First Christian Church of Knoxville. She was also a member of the Knoxville Women’s Club and the Harry E. Philblad Post #749 American Legion Auxiliary. Jane was very active in her church and her community. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, facemasks and social distancing will be required.
