James R. "Jamie" Gipson

James R. “Jamie” Gipson, 58, of Galesburg passed away peacefully at his home with his loved ones by his side on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Jamie was born on July 2, 1964 in Monmouth. He was the son of James E. and D. June (Ricketts) Gipson. Jamie is survived by his father, Jim (Sherry Thompson); daughters, Mercedi (Matt) Wells of Monmouth, Jenah (Scotty) Hart of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Amanda (Eric) Tranthem of El Reno, Oklahoma, Sarah Gipson of Canton, Samantha Gipson of Noble, Oklahoma and one son Ryan (Cassie) Franks of Gerlaw; eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; siblings, Larry (Amy) Gipson of Monmouth, Jenny (Dave) Graham of Solon, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal and paternal grandparents, grandchildren Charley and Hadley, brother Gary Needham, niece Mary Clark, and Uncle Richard “Dick” Ricketts.

Jamie attended Warren Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked in construction after leaving the Navy until his retirement. Jamie enjoyed playing the guitar, sing music, listening to music, being outdoors camping, fishing or grilling. Most importantly, Jamie LOVED his family and spending time with his grandchildren. His family was extremely important to him.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Per Jamie’s wishes, no service will be held.  Memorials may be made to the family.
