Gene F. "Jack" Hebard

Gene Fulton “Jack” Hebard III, age 71, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 6:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at this home in Knoxville, Illinois. Jack was born on January 5, 1947 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Gene F. “Buck” and Elizabeth (Taber) Hebard, Jr. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, class of 1965. He married Rebecca “Becky” Jones on April 17, 1969 in Knoxville, Illinois. Surviving is one daughter and her children, Andrea (Eddie Martinez) Hebard of Arvada, Colorado, Zachary and Alexandra; one son and his children, Ryan (Addie) Hebard of East Galesburg, Illinois, Ava and Ella; and one brother, Mark Hebard of Pheonix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a Concrete Finisher Tradesman, and also a Member of the Plasterers and Cement Masons, Local 18. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from April 11, 1966 to March 28, 1968. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Two Overseas Service Bars, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Harry Philblad American Legion Post #749 of Knoxville, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois, with Military Rites conducted by the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381 of Abingdon, Illinois. Family will receive friends following the interment services at the Knoxville America Legion in Knoxville, Illinois.
