G. Maxine (nee Soper) Mundwiler

G. Maxine (nee Soper) Mundwiler, 89, of Knoxville, passed away at home with family at her side on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Maxine was born on May 11, 1932 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Orville and Harriet (Rosiere) Woolsey. She married Albert Soper in 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in 1970. Maxine later married Harley Mundwiler on December 26, 1973 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in 1984. Maxine is survived by her children, George (Joann) Soper and Susie (LeRoy) Lenz, all of Knoxville; step-daughters, Judy (James) Dennis and Patricia (Steve) Tolle, all of Galesburg; step-sons; Russell (Vicky) Mundwiler of Knoxville and Dale (Kris) Mundwiler of Oneida; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; ten step grandchildren and eighteen step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Albert and Harley; and twelve siblings. Maxine was a cook for the Knox County Nursing Home. She then went on to work at Rowe Manufacturing, Gates and Canfield. She would retire from Knox College in 1994 as a cook. Maxine was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and loved to sew, garden, read and cook. She loved cooking so much that after retirement, Maxine would volunteer to cook at The Oaks Senior Center until about six months ago. She also loved spending time with her family. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will follow services at the Knoxville Cemetery.
