Fred J. Nesbit, age 78, of Knoxville, passed away at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Fred was born on July 5, 1939, in Galesburg, the son of Walter Darwin and Lois Irene (Wilson) Nesbit. He attended Valley High School and graduated in 1957. He also attended one year of college at Western Illinois University. Surviving are three sisters, Helen Essex of Knoxville, Lois Ann Heckart of London Mills, and Darla J. Ray of Maquon; one sister-in-law, Norma Nesbit of Galesburg; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Lewis of Maquon; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Nesbit; one sister, Linda Lewis; and two nieces, Lisa (Nesbit) Carnes and Roxanne (Heckart) Lingenfelter. He was a business accountant all of this life, working for banks in the Abingdon, Peoria, and Chicago areas. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969. Graveside memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Rollie Graumann will officiate.
