Dorothy Mae (Hutson) Sandall, age 89, of Macomb, Illinois formerly of Knoxville, Illinois died at 9:04 A.M. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Wesley Village in Macomb, Illinois. She was born on December 13, 1928 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Chester Harold and Clara Mary (Gamel) Hutson. She attended rural Knoxville School and graduated from Knoxville High School. She also attended Western Illinois University at Macomb, Illinois. She married Herman James Sandall on August 14, 1947 at the Hutson Family Home. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2016. Surviving are two daughters, Marietta Kay (Philip) Bear of Winter Garden, Florida and Barbara Rose Sandall of Macomb, Illinois; four grandchildren: Peter (Heather) Bear, Jonathan Bear, Marie (Greg) Bear Hernandez, and Rachel Bear; two great-grandchildren: Claudia and Alex Hernandez; and one brother, George Hutson of Normal, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Eleanor; and one sister-in-law, Peggy. Dorothy worked as an Activity Director at the former Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois and a Nurses’ Aide at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. She also helped her husband at Sandall’s Fix-It Shop, repairing and upholstering furniture and the Whistle Stop Hobby Shop in Knoxville, Illinois. She was an active member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with family, hosting parties, square dancing, going to car club events, traveling, sewing/crafts, cooking, ceramics and working at the church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois with memorial services beginning at 11:00 A.M. Revs. John Knueppel and Lyren Haney will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
