Doris M. Thompson

Doris M. Thompson, age 78 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 9:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at her home. She was born on September 15, 1938, the daughter of Clarence and Georgia Lucille (Cooksey) Briggs in Galesburg, Illinois. Doris married Robert Thompson on February 1, 1955 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in January of 1985. Surviving are her children; John (Lisa) Thompson of Knoxville, Illinois, Steve (Glenna) Thompson of Williamsfield, Illinois, Sharon Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois and LouAnn Thompson of Knoxville, Illinois; Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father William Baughman, a twin daughter, Karen: three brothers: Wayne, Clarence and Eugene: three sisters: Betty, Marion, and Darlene, great-granddaughter Danielle; one grandson, David and one great-great grandson. Doris was a Nurse’s Aide at the Knox County Nursing Home for 28 years. She attended the United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois and Orange Chapel Church in Gilson, Illinois. Doris enjoyed spending her time reading magazines, watching T.V. and gardening. Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Maquon Cemetery in Maquon, Illinois with the Rev. Krey Leesman officiating.
