Doris M. Keeney

Doris M. Keeney, 85, of Galesburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 6:07 AM, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Galesburg. Doris was born on September 16, 1935 in Knox County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Hubert and Gladys (Lethleider) Hodges. Doris married the love of her life, Bob G. Keeney on August 31, 1968 in Elizabethtown, Illinois. Together, they celebrated 52 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband, Bob at home; stepchildren, Bob Keeney of Kankakee and Jesse Keeney of Holister, Missouri; two siblings, Inez Miller of Burlington, Iowa and Verla Wexell of Galva; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. Doris was a graduate of Williamsfield High School. She worked as a secretary for Admiral’s in Galesburg; and then later worked with her husband at their dairy farm and also at Emerson Electric in Ava Missouri. Doris enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading books. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and friends visiting. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2021 at Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Hall, Knoxville. Visitation will be held at the fellowship hall one hour prior to funeral services. Burial will follow at Gilson Cemetery. Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville have been entrusted with arrangements. Due to COVID-19 face masks, social distancing and attendance guidelines will be required. Memorials may be made to the family.
