Dennis G. Brown

Dennis G. Brown, age 69, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away on November 4, 2017 at 5:30 P.M. at OSF St. Francis in Peoria, Illinois. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was born on July 21, 1948, to George and Sarah (Ray) Brown. Dennis is the second of four children. While attending Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU), Dennis met the love of his life: Mary Lou (Tillotson) Brown. They were married on March 28, 1970 in Springfield, Missouri. After graduating from SMSU, Dennis and Mary moved to Indiana until 1988 when they finally settled in Knoxville, Illinois. They were married for 47 years and together for 50. Mary and Dennis had a wonderful life together filled with love and laughter. Dennis worked for Indiana Farm Bureau CO-OP for 19 years and Riverland FS for 23 years, retiring in 2011. After retirement Dennis and Mary enjoyed traveling adventures to Santa Fe, New Mexico, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Dennis’ hobbies included hunting, fishing, and Indiana University basketball. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents George and Sarah Brown, his brother Stanley A. Brown, and his sister Susan Brown. Dennis leaves behind his loving wife Mary Lou Brown, brother Donald Brown, daughter Maggie (Justin) Ziller, son Doug (Kathy Groves) Brown, and three grandchildren: Addy Brown, Leyton Brown, and Anna Groves. He had a wonderful sense of humor and love for family and friends. Dennis will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, Novmber 9, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, Rev. John Knueppel officiating. Burial will be at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
