David A. Peck, 68, of Knoxville, Illinois found his eternal hunting blind at 11:39 A.M. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois. David was born on April 21, 1948 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Humes) Peck. He was raised and educated in the Delong and Knoxville area. David graduated from Knoxville High School and Western Illinois University with a B.S. degree in agricultural education. David married his high school sweetheart Ann Adolphson on June 27, 1971 at Grace Lutheran Church, Knoxville, Illinois, and she survives. David was a fertilizer salesman and fertilizer applicator employed by Spoon River FS, Atkinson Grain and Fertilizer, Premier Farm Supply, retiring from Inness Farm Supply. He was also a certified crop specialist. His favorite job was being a husband, dad, and grandpa. Post retirement, he did what he loved most depending on the season; tending to his award winning rose garden, shooting guns and hunting. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was always in season. David was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Knoxville where he was also on the congregation council. He was a trustee for the Knoxville Community Fire Protection District, the Knox County Master Instructor for Hunter Safety courses, a member of the Greater Peoria Rose Society, Delong Livestock 4-H member, 4-H Model Rocketry Judge, and the Knoxville Booster Club. He was also an avid hunter and would harvest deer and donate them to the FISH Food Pantry. David is survived by his wife Ann, of Knoxville, Illinois; one daughter, Christinel (Jarid) Cain of Rio, Illinois; one son, Nicholas (Rhonda) Peck of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, D.J., Ali, Abbie, and Addie Cain, Ryder Peck and his twin siblings on the way; five sisters, Gerrie Pickrel of Avon, Illinois, Carol (Floyd) Lamberson, Silver Lake, Wisconsin, Barbara (John) Anderson of Knoxville, Illinois, Linda (Bob) Wunder of Gilson, Illinois, and Patty Campbell of Knoxville, Illinois; sister-in-law, Louella (Allen) Jennings of Abingdon, Illinois; and special friends, Gary and Mary Beth Bowman of Maquon, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be most remembered most for his quick wit, positive attitude, and relentless determination. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 11 at Grace Lutheran Church, Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Michel Clark will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Friday, February 10 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family or the Knox County 4-H Foundation.
