David Lee Brittingham

David L. Brittingham, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:12 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. David was born on November 21, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois the son of Floyd and Vera (Adams) Brittingham. He graduated from Costa High School in Galesburg, Illinois. David married Karen Owens on August 21, 1975 in Galesburg, Illinois. David first worked for Gale Products he then went on to work for the City of Knoxville for many years in different departments. He also owned and operated Britt’s Lawn Service. David was a lifetime trap shooter, liked attending auctions, and hunting. He loved following Galesburg High School and Knoxville High School’s basketball programs. David also enjoyed drag racing. David is survived by his wife, Karen Brittingham of Galesburg, Illinois; one son, Chad Brittingham of Belle Haven, Virginia; one daughter, Staci Brittingham of Galesburg, Illinois; three grandchildren, Allyson Brittingham of Osco, Illinois, Kyle Brittingham of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ashlee Mechtel of Wisconsin; two great granddaughters, Madyn and Zaylee; one sister, Vivian (Robert) Cooley of Galesburg, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gene Brittingham, and one sister, Delores Henry. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
