Dan H. Goodin

Dan H. Goodin, 76 years old, passed away on March 25, 2018 at his home in Elmore Illinois, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 4th, 1941 in Harlan, Kentucky to Herbert and Lola Goodin. Danny grew up in Harlan and spent his adult life in the Peoria Illinois area. He worked as a coal miner in Kentucky as a young man before his employment at Caterpillar where he worked for 31 years. Danny married Phyllis in 1961 in Mary Alice, Kentucky. They were happily married for 56 years. Danny is survived by his wife, “Hazel” Phyllis Goodin of Elmore, Illinois; Daughters: “#1” Patty Goodin (Dee Dunnett) of FL, “Baby Girl” Teresa Goodin-Switzer of FL; Sons: His Eldest Son of IL, “Goody” Gregory Goodin of IL, “Digger” Rich (Kelly) Goodin of IL; Sisters: Barbara Gray of KY, Bonnie (Tom) Stellwag FL, Mary Katherine (Dennis) Kinney, Marcilene Grebner of IL, Deborah Kay Schumacher of IL, Robin (Harold) Hunt IL Brothers: Jerry (Jackie) Goodin of KY, Walt (Brenda) Goodin of IL, Jeff (Patty) Goodin of IL; Grandchildren: Joshua Russell, Erin Goodin, Cory Russell, Natalie Goodin, Amanda Russell, Kayla Goodin, Michael Goodin, Kristen Switzer and Ryan Goodin; Great grandchildren Christopher Williams, Matthew Harris, Ashanti Harris and Tayla Harris.; and “Uncle Meanie’s” many treasured nieces and nephews. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, baby brother David Gilbert Goodin, sister Arlo Vickers, brother-in-law “Toby” Edward Vickers, sister-in-law Juanita Goodin, brother-in-law Jerry Gray, niece Carrie Cook and granddaughter Hannah Goodin. A private graveside funeral service will be held. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at a luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Williamsfield IL immediately after the service. Danny was a heart transplant recipient. His 21 years of gifted life allowed him extra time to live, love and touch many lives. He requested no flowers or tributes.
