Catherine Anne “Katie” Stone, 40, of Knoxville, passed away at home on Friday, August 20, 2021, 9:28 AM, with her loving family at her side. Katie was born August 11, 1981 to Stephen and Jackie Stone of Knoxville, IL. Katie graduated Knoxville High School in 2000. Katie was a member of the Ability Project of Galesburg. Katie has joined her awaiting family members. Her grandmother, Marilyn Bruniga, grandfathers Laverne Burkhalter, Bill "Pops" Bruniga, Floyd Downing, and Lee (Papa Lee) Stone. Her cousin Kurt Doubet and nephew Dakota Zimmerman. Along with many other special family members and her wonderful friends, Jean Brady and Corey Miller. Katie leaves behind her parents, Steve and Jackie Stone, her sister, Christina Stone and Don Zimmerman, her niece Alleah and nephews Devan (Kaylee Cather) Zimmerman (all of Knoxville, IL), Johnathan Melow of Galesburg. Her Grandmother, Marilyn Stone-Jezek, of Nevada. Her aunts and uncles: Judy and Dan Doubet of Galesburg, IL, Janet and Gary Carstensen of DeWitt, IA, Gordon Stone of Arizona, BJ and Kim Stone of Island Lake, IL, Susan Oremus of Wyoming, and Patsy and Phil Hoffman of Texas. She also leaves behind many amazing cousins and family members, and her special friends Martha Brady, Billy Moulton, Jodi Roberts and Taikeesha. Katie was so loving and kind. She loved her dogs and cats (especially Callie). She enjoyed the family farm, including her very own Elsa the goat. She adored Woody from Toy Story. She was a friend to all and the light of our world. She gave the most amazing hugs and had the sweetest smile. She enjoyed her family Sunday routine of dressing up for church at Corpus Christi, breakfast, and grocery shopping. She loved to carry the collection basket at church. She was always up for a day of lunch and shopping. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Mark DeYoung and nurses Kelli and Mindi, Dr. Denise Dechow and Tara Livingston, APRN, Hospice Compassus and a special thank you to Lisa and Chelsea with hospice. Katie will be deeply missed by so many. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Rosary will be prayed at 5 PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville. Father William T. Miller will officiate funeral services and Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate the Rosary. Burial will follow mass at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville have been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Stone Family Nursing Scholarship at Carl Sandburg College, The Knox County Humane Society, Guardian Angels Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
