Bernice “Dolly” Sosh, age 90, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away on December 28, 2017 at her home.
Bernice was born on March 7, 1927 to Edward G. and Elizabeth Baxter in Banner Marsh, Illinois. She was raised with siblings; Edna Bachler, Clarence Baxter, Edward Baxter, Helen Brentlinger, Charlotte Lear, and Vera Becker. She attended Knoxville Schools. She resided in Knoxville and was employed by Maytag and Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was married to Paul McCormack, Buddy Curtis, and Leonard Sosh. She was mother to Gwen McCormack, Gwendolyn McCormack, and Elizabeth Ann Baxter. She was preceded in death by all except Vera Becker, whom still resides in Knoxville.
She spent her life devoted to helping rear her nieces Debora Kay Johnson and Teresa Annette Wise. She also had a major impact in the caretaking of great nieces Ja'net Burdette, Christy Clark, Nicole Kindhart, Olivia Kniss, Sophia Armstrong, and great nephew, Bob Avila. She was loved by all that knew her for her compassion for the ill, dying, disabled, and unfortunate. She warmly welcomed all into her life. She spent the last few years of her life enjoying adventures with her boyfriend Roy Wallace. She is greatly missed and mourned by all mentioned above, as well as nieces Suzanne (Becker) Heidenblut, Vicki (Baxter) Lundstrum, and nephew David Becker.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the High Bridge Cemetery in Dunfermline, Illinois, Rev. Dennis Owens officiating. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
