Barbara Mae Potts, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 1:50 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her home with her children by her side. She was born on May 5, 1940 in Oakland California, the daughter of Edward William and Eva Mae (Bower) Morse. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, Illinois and attended Galesburg Schools. Barbara married Merlin Charles Potts on February 17, 1957 at the First Church of God in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2006. Barbara was a loving wife and mother. She loved taking care of her plants and animals, especially her dog Queenie who was her world. Barbara was also a talented artist. Barbara is survived by three sons, Randy (Angie) Potts of Dahinda, Illinois, Keith “Butch” Potts of Phenix City, Alabama, Kevin Potts of Galesburg, Illinois; one daughter, Amanda (Rod) Wagher of Knoxville, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, Doris, Larry, Richard, Tori, Colton, Jacob, Candys, Christopher, Charles, Kasey, Chad, Cody, Joshua, and Samantha; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Richard (Erlene) Morse of Galesburg, Illinois; and one sister, Madeline Seeman of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services planned. Barbara will be laid to rest with her beloved dog Queenie. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or to Guardian Angels. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
