Barbara J. Cassel, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:09 P.M. at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. She was born June 19, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Fields) Cassel. Barbara worked for many years as the Activities Director for St. Mary’s Square. She enjoyed all crafts, camping, the ocean and collecting shells. Barbara is survived by her mother; Dorothy Cassel of Douglas, 4 children; Jody (Richard) Booth of Elmwood, Barry Sprout of Douglas, Annette Kidder of Galesburg, Amanda Behymer of Galesburg, 5 grandchildren; Dori Booth of Surprise, Arizona, Cori (Jeremy) Martin of Elmwood, Channse Sprout of Vinton, Louisiana, Lacie Piazza of St. Augustine, Sylvia Mutton of Vinton, Louisiana, 5 great-grandchildren; Brady Martin, Kadence Piazza, Aniah Mutton, Sophie Sprout, Ayden Sprout, and 1 half-brother; Fred Seiling of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Cassel, daughter, Shannon Guidry, brother, Bill Cassel. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be left to the family.
