Albert S. “Al” Westfall, 93, of Henderson, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Promedica Healthcare Center, Galesburg.

 

Al was born on November 25, 1929 in Knox County. He was the son of Samuel and Margarete (Johnson) Westfall. He married Verna Kenney in 1954. He later married Janice Sargeant on August 17, 1976 in Monmouth. Al is survived by his wife, Janice; his children, Susan (Randy) Stewart of Florida, Joanne (Thomas) Benge of Bishop Hill, Rita Singer of Toulon, John (Pamela) Westfall of Joy, Cindy Adams of Florida, Tom Westfall of Wataga, Lisa (Kevin) Collinson of Galva and Montelea (Terry) Gray of Galesburg; sisters, Alma Powell of Galesburg and Ann Colwell of East Galesburg; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Allan, daughter, Theresa and siblings, Fred, James, Wilber, Beverly Marquith and Betty Fones.

 

Al was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. When he returned home, Al worked at the family farm and was a roofer. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, fishing and was an extremely skilled carpenter and woodworker. Most of all, Al enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family get-togethers were the highlight of his life. He was truly loved and will be missed.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville have been entrusted with arrangements. On-line condolences and/or expressions of sympathy may be sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
