Vickie Vollbracht

December 23, 1953 — February 9, 2022

Vickie Vollbracht, 68, of Delong, passed away at home with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 8:03 PM. Vickie was born on December 23, 1953 in Avon, Illinois. She was the daughter of Dale and Barbara (Perry) Hoyle. She married the love of her life, Omer “Gene” Vollbracht at their home in Delong on April 27, 1991. Together they celebrated a life of 30 years. Vickie is survived by her loving husband, Gene; children, Heidi (James) Hawkins currently riverside somewhere off the shores of the Mighty Mississippi, Jennifer (Lonnie Roisere) Shumard of Delong, Amanda (Aaron) Mockler of Galesburg, Michael (Erin) Hoyle of Dahinda and Emily Vollbracht of Bloomington-Normal; stepchildren, Judy (Bill) Jackson of Florida and Lisa Paul of Galesburg; siblings, Dale (Debbie) Hoyle of Bushnell, Terry (Laura) Hoyle of Knoxville and Amy (Otis) Hill of Gilson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Vickie graduated from Galesburg High School. She attended nursing classes and received her Associates in Applied Science from Carl Sandburg College. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, especially Thomas Kincaid puzzles. She also loved to garden, sew, dance and her extensive collection of hummingbirds. She made the worlds best fudge, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Vickie was a proud homemaker and mother. Her children and family were the light of her eye. She was always welcoming, loving and nicknamed the “Mom of Delong.” She was always happiest when her home was full of noise, rowdy playful children, and family. Just like her meatloaf, Vickie was the “Worlds Best” and will be greatly missed by those who cherish her most. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 11 AM - 5 PM at the Lake Storey Pavilion, Galesburg.
