Linda L. Cassel

Linda L. Cassel, age 70, of Yates City, Illinois, died at on Monday, January 14, 2019 at her home in Yates City. She was born on November 26, 1948 in Douglas, Illinois, the daughter of James and Lorene (Derry) Wells. She was reared and educated in the Yates City area. In 1966, she married William David Cassel in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death in October of 1995. Linda is survived by her children: Robert L. (and Shelley) Cassel of Yates City, Sherry Cassel of Douglas, Illinois; six grandchildren: Zachary Cassel of Yates City, Michaela Cassel of Farmington, Illinois, Ross Coulter of Elmwood, Illinois, Devin Anderson-Cassel of Douglas, William Cassel of Douglas, Hannah Fox of Douglas; one great-granddaughter, Madelynn Cassel of Farmington, with another on the way, Kaison Damm; her siblings: James Wells of Farmington, Delbert (and Beth) Wells of Maquon, Illinois, Betty (and Leonard Mitchell) Sornberger of Galesburg, Illinois, Jessie Johnson of Galesburg, Floris Briggs of Gilson, Illinois, Diane (and Bill) Sherwood of Florida, Johnny (and Melody) Wells of Maquon, and Ricky (and Debbie) Wells of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Tina Coulter; one great-granddaughter, Ashlynn; and one brother, Duane Wells. Linda worked at Hoffman Seed sorting corn, and also detasseled for McKeighon Seed Company. Linda enjoyed dancing, but her main passion in life was her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held on January 25, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.
