Joyce Irene Stogdill

Joyce Irene Stogdill, age 67, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones at the Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto in Southaven, Mississippi. On Thursday, January 24, 1952, Joyce was born in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Pullen) Malone. She was reared and educated in the Knoxville, Illinois area, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1970. After graduation, she went on to attend and graduate from the Burlington Beauty Academy. On Saturday, May 27, 1972, Joyce was married to Dan Stogdill at the First Christian Church in Knoxville. Left to cherish Joyce’s memory is her loving husband of forty-seven years, Dan Stogdill; two children: Rebecca “Becky” (and Gary) Conner, Lance Stogdill; three grandchildren: Bailey Conner, Joshua Conner, Deseree Conner; three sisters: Jeanne Flowers, Kay (and Tom) Walter, JoAnn Walker; two brothers: David (and Brenda) Malone, Tony (and Susan) Garoutte; her mother-in-law, Evie Stogdill; her sister-in-law, Connie (and Tommy) Beck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Malone. Joyce was a talented cosmetologist, and worked as a hair stylist for over twenty years in Galesburg at Salon Supreme and The Grand Salon. After relocating to the Memphis, Tennessee area, she began working for Wal-Mart. On August 2, 2019, Joyce retired from her position as Personnel Manager at Wal-Mart in Hernando, Mississippi. She loved and was loved by her coworkers, and felt tremendously blessed to have been able to work with such a wonderful group that made up her work family. Joyce had many past times that she enjoyed, but spending time with her family was always what she enjoyed the most; she was especially very involved in the lives of her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. Joyce touched many lives throughout her lifetime and was very family oriented. Her favorite titles were Wife, Mother, and Grandma. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Knoxville American Legion at 749 Henderson Road, Knoxville, Illinois.
